Final Days of Sloan

Exactly 2 years ago this week I was in Cambridge looking for apartments, 3 weeks away from quitting my job, and unsure of what the future would hold.   It’s hard to believe that I am now officially done with my MBA! Graduation was on Friday June 5th, but the weeks leading up to it were filled with lots of fun “final” moments.

The last week of school was filled with some of my favorite things about Sloan and MIT.  The first was the MIT 100K, our school-wide entrepreneurship competition.  The 100K is a must-see event for any Sloanie, as it will definitely inspire you to go out there and change the world!

The next night we had our annual “Sloan Follies” show, which is a night full of great food and drinks, a live performance from our band (the Rolling Sloans), and of course a hilarious and entertaining show put on by our talented classmates.  My favorite part was the final rap ballad, “Talk Sloanie to Me”.

After classes were over, all of the 2nd years had “Ocean BBQs”, a final send-off to our core cohort.  We reminisced about the past 2 years and shared our plans over beers and burgers.

After a week of relaxing and traveling, the time finally came to graduate! Family and friends flew in from every corner of the earth to celebrate with us.  It didn’t hit me until Friday morning that this was finally it – a fact that brought a tear to my eye as I walked into Killian Court at MIT.

Graduation was a bitter-sweet day for all of us at Sloan.  Personally, I feel equal parts excited for the next chapter, and sad that the past 2 years are over.  Getting an MBA at Sloan was no doubt one of the best experiences of my life and I would do it all over again if I had the chance.

To future Sloanies – enjoy every minute of your time here.  It will be over before you know it!
